Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Wangari Maathai and Dr. James A. Kowalski will lead a discussion on spiritual values and the environment entitled “Enter the Conversation” on Wednesday, December 1st at 7 PM at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, located at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th Street), Manhattan.
Maathai, an advocate for peace and the environment and founder of the Green Belt Movement (GBM), will discuss topics including love for the environment, respect and gratitude for Earth’s resources, self-betterment and the spirit of service and volunteerism. She will touch upon her work with the GBM throughout Kenya and her new novel, Replenishing the Earth: the Spiritual Values for Healing Ourselves and the World. Dr. James A. Kowalski, Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, will moderate the discussion.
“Enter the Conversation” is part of an ongoing series of programs at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine that encourages individuals to become more involved in their communities and be agents of positive social change.
