Everything about Nnenna (pronounced Nina) exudes beauty and an original sense of style. This critically acclaimed jazz singer was nominated for five Grammy awards and received the prestigious Billie Holiday and Eubie Blake awards. She has toured with a veritable who’s-who in jazz, including the late-great Ray Charles, Ellis Marsalis, Al Jarreau and George Benson. Nnenna’s latest album, Blueprint of a Lady – Sketches of Billie Holiday, demonstrates her delicate strength and deep admiration for Lady Day, while keeping the music decidedly her own. Nnenna’s outspoken and stalwart advocacy for childhood education has earned her the position of spokesperson for the Nation Association of Partners in Education.
