Nine Lives- A Musical Adaptation May 4, 2011

Le Petit Theatre presents the debut live concert performance of songs from the upcoming musical, 'Nine Lives- A Musical Adaptation.' Adapted by Colman deKay and Paul Sanchez from the bestselling non-fiction book by Dan Baum, 'Nine Lives' follows nine New Orleanians through the years between Hurricanes Betsy in 1965 and Katrina in 2005. As joyous, eccentric, tragic and hopeful as the city that inspired them, the songs range from Fats Domino-tinged rock & roll to traditional jazz, blues, Mardi Gras Indian chants, chamber music, soul, brass band and hip-hop. The concert will be performed by an all-star band chosen from the 100-plus musicians and singers who appeared on the just-released two-CD set. The evening will feature appearances by guest singers from New Orleans and Broadway.
