Nina Diaz takes the stage at Ocho on Wednesday, June 20 at 7 pm. There is no cover charge to attend.
Front woman for acclaimed rock trio Girl in a Coma, Nina Diaz has spent the last few years in a whirlwind rise to fame that has included being signed by rocker Joan Jett’s label Blackheart Records and touring with legends like Morrissey, Cyndi Lauper, The Pogues, Tegan and Sara and others. San Antonio welcomes one of their own back for an intimate look into the talented voice behind one of its favorite bands.
WOAI’s Christina Rodriguez has given probably the best description yet of Vincent Vega, saying, “If Billie Holiday grew up in San Antonio during the 90s, she would be Vincent Vega.” Less than a year prior to that particular performance, Alyson Alonzo and Jeff Escamilla first collaborated during an impromptu jam session at a mutual friend’s birthday party. Alonzo’s sultry voice found a comfortable ally in the Jeff’s precise guitar riffs. Their chance meeting turned into an aesthetically hypnotizing project named after John Travolta’s iconic character in Pulp Fiction. Alonzo and Escamilla's music has a cool, classic style that seems transported from a different era.
