Nina Beier’s work focuses on shared actions, experiences and histories that bind people together in close relationships, temporary groups or abstract communities. By staging actions and introducing shifts in the existing context and material, Beier challenges viewers to reflect upon aspects of traditional viewing spaces, common audience behaviors and institutional conventions. For YBCA, Beier created a new body of work entitled The Complete Works, which includes a live performance within the exhibition space by retired San Francisco Ballet principal dancer Muriel Maffre, and collaborations with YBCA staff, including an electronic music performance by Great Willow at Yerba Buena Gardens.

Live performances with Muriel Maffre and Great Willow are FREE w/ gallery admission, limited capacity, and first come first serve.
