The Niles Town Plaza Summer Concert Series continues on August 7th, with home-grown blues legend Ron Thompson at 1pm, and The Royal Deuces playing Rockabilly at 2:30pm, and also a special short 'tweener' set by Arizona songwriter Chuck Cheeseman.
This is a unique chance to hear Ron Thompson in a solo performance in the Niles Town Plaza. He's a Newark, CA native, and is a Grammy nominated member of the Blues Hall Of Fame. The Royal Deuces are fronted by Mitch Polzak on vocals and electric guitar, they are a bay area staple in the Rockabilly scene.
In conjunction with the concert, Food Truck Mafia presents Main Street Eats in Niles. Grab some gourmet food from the trucks and enjoy the free music in the Plaza.
The beautiful Town Plaza sits in the center of the old train town of Niles, against the hills of Fremont. The lawn amphitheater is in front of the restored 1900's train station museum, and has a perfect view of the musicians, hills, and the historic steam trains that come and go through the Niles Canyon. The quaint five block downtown is Mayberry with a twist. Bring low lawn chairs and blankets, enjoy the sunshine, spend some time in this old silent film mecca. For those who show up without a plan, not a problem - large shade canopies are provided by the Niles Main Street Association, with plenty of park benches and a long semi-circle bench facing the concert stage. There are also several restaurants adjacent to the plaza who have 'to go' lunches for your impromptu picnic. Please no alcohol, and please keep the plaza clean. This is a family friendly event! The concerts are sponsored by the Niles Main Street Association & The Golden Spike Music Program.
