Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international humanitarian organization. Founded in 1971 by a small group of French doctors, it is committed to providing emergency medical care to victims of the South Asia tsunami, people caught in armed conflicts, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters. Doctors Without Borders won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999. Nicolas de Torrente is Executive Director of Doctors Without Borders in the United States. He is speaking as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series of Pasadena. A Swiss national, Mr. de Torrente has worked extensively for the organization and holds three degrees in International Studies, Law and Diplomacy, and Economics.
