RIVKA GALCHEN
In conversation with Ron Charles, Senior Editor, The Washington Post Book World
Rivka Galchen’s first book Atmospheric Disturbances has been described as “achingly beautiful” by Entertainment Weekly and “enthralling” by Publishers Weekly. Aging psychiatrist Dr. Leo Liebstein is convinced that his wife Rema has been replaced by an imposter who looks, sounds and acts exactly like her. Leo is certain that the “real” Rema is out there to be found, and he embarks on a journey to discover the truth—with help from one of his psychiatric patients. Rivka Galchen received an MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and an MFA from Columbia University. Her writing has appeared in Harper’s Magazine, The New York Times and The New Yorker. Atmospheric Disturbances was Notable Book of 2008 in The New York Times Book Review.
