NEWBERY MEDAL AWARD BOOK CHALLENGE! March 11, 2006

You are invited to the kick-off of the library's new NEWBERY MEDAL AWARD BOOK CHALLENGE! Come to the library for treats and information on this fun reading challenge. Children, families & adults are invited. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

How to participate:

1. Keep the Newbery Passport and your
Newbery Club Membershipin a safe place! (You get this when you sign up!)
2. Pick up Newbery book question sheets for each book you read.
3. Identify the books you have already read and answer the questions for them. The librarians will check them and give you credit.
4. Read the remaining books, fill out a question sheet for each as you finish them. Bring them to the library where the librarians will stamp your
passport.
5. When you have finished a decade (all 10 books in a decade) bring your passport in for verification and you will receive your Newbery Club bookmark. As you finish decades you will can choose an additional bead for your bookmark. (There is a special reward for surviving The Story of Mankind the
1922 winner)
6. When your entire passport is completed, bring it to the librarians who will verify your completion of this monumental task. Your name will be engraved on the Newbery Medal Club plaque and you will receive a certificate of completion. You will also be honored at the annual Newbery Medal Party.
