The Yankees would win the American League Pennant again, winning 99 games en-route to holding off the Boston Red Sox by 11 games. Lou Gehrig made history by playing in his 2,000th consecutive game. However, Gehrig's play was just a little bit off he did hit 29 Home Runs, and drove in 115 runs, but his Average had dipped below .300 for the first time since his rookie year. The Yankees would go on to sweep the Chicago Cubs in the World Series. Red Ruffing who pitched two complete games to bookend the sweep led the Yankees. It would be the Yankees seventh World Championship.
