The world’s top tennis professionals will compete in World TeamTennis (WTT) action once again this July at the new, $18 million state-of-the-art SPORTIME at Randall’s Island Tennis Center, where the New York Sportimes will play their second season at their new home in New York City.

The SPORTIMES will once again be captained by New York tennis legend John McEnroe, playing in his 10th WTT season. On Monday, July 19, McEnroe will take the court in a star-studded night of Grand Slam champions, teaming with defending US Open Champion Kim Clijsters in her only New York pre-US Open appearance, to face off against former No. 1 Martina Hingis and her New York Buzz team.

In a newly announced visit, No. 1 American player Andy Roddick, the 2003 US Open Men’s Singles Champion, will make his first ever WTT playing appearance in New York on Wednesday, July 14, leading the Philadelphia Freedoms against the Sportimes. Roddick is presently ranked No. 8 in the world and has 28 career singles titles. He is a former world No. 1 and has played for the United States Davis Cup Team.
Other highlights of the Sportimes’ home schedule include visits by New York native James Blake playing for his Boston Lobsters on Wednesday, July 7, and a return match with the Kastles and their star Serena Williams on July 15.

The Sportimes will provide free shuttle bus service from several stops on the East Side of Manhattan, starting two hours prior to each match and returning to the same locations following the conclusion of each night’s events.

The Sportimes will honor all New York, New Jersey and Connecticut individual and team 2009-10 high school tennis champions with a special on court ceremony and promotion prior to the team’s matchup this evening.
