Opening reception of an art exhibition by Jan Testori-Markman titled “New Work” will feature a collection inspired by urban life and living in the city.
In this series, Jan Testori-Markman uses a special technique of painting translucent layers on top of one another, peeling the layers, and then adhering iron filings. The filings rust onto the painting’s surface and oxidize upon contact, adding texture and variations in color. Testori-Markman has integrated her experience in apparel, jewelry design and fine arts to create a collection of work, rich in detail, using rust to form a unique combination of painting and alchemy.
Opening Reception (free; open to the public): Tuesday, September 18, 6-9 PM
Exhibition: September 5 – October 31, 2012
