Following successful photowalks in Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Hanover and York, local photography hobbyists and families interested in enjoying our local towns and their great architecture are invited to participate in a free event starting at New Oxford's town square at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 5th. Previous area walks have drawn between 30 and 60 walkers each.
Participants of all ages will meet on the square for general information and a group photograph. The group will travel a 1.6 mile route through town, photographing items large and small that capture each participant's interest. Photography skills of all levels are appropriate, and any camera is allowed, from an expensive single lens reflex to a simple point and shoot camera. Families are encouraged to bring children of all ages, perhaps providing younger participants with disposable cameras that can encourage creativity for all.
Photowalkers can share their photographs after through a free custom Flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/groups/newoxfordphotowalk. As a new twist, participants will have the option of having one of their photographs published in a photobook of the day's journey. The book will be available at a photowalker discount directly through the publisher. Walkers, friends and New Oxford fans may all purchase the book as it becomes available in late June.
While there is no cost for the activity, interested readers are encouraged to follow updates on the event web site, www.vrphotowalks.com. More information may be obtained from Andy Smith by emailing him at ostman4200@comcast.net.
