FIVE NEW COLOR ETCHINGS BY ANNE APPLEBY
November 7, 2012 - January 5, 2013
Painter Anne Appleby carefully observes nature and uses the changing colors of plants, trees, flowers or seasons as inspiration for her multi-panel color fields. Appleby's luminous palette can range from cool to warm often in a single print. In one of her latest etchings, Horsetail, 2012, verdant green gives way to earthy brown and warm pink. Appleby continues to reveal the simple beauty of the natural world by capturing its quiet moments of transformation.
RICHARD DIEBENKORN: PRINTS AND PROOFS
November 7, 2012 - January 5, 2013
At Crown Point Press we continue to celebrate our 50-year anniversary with a show featuring a selection of etchings by Richard Diebenkorn. Diebenkorn was the first artist invited to Crown Point in 1962, and he made prints in our studio throughout his career until his death in 1993.
The show focuses on Diebenkorn's complex image development in the studio, and provides a rare glimpse into the artist's process. The highlight of the exhibition is Diebenkorn's most celebrated color etching, Green, 1986, shown alongside the working proofs.
