New Deal Art From New Mexico February 11, 2011

During the Depression of the 1930s the Federal government provided funds to assist artists throughout the United States. Many painters and sculptors working in New Mexico were able to continue their work through the Depression with the assistance of those funds. These New Deal monies also supported the design and construction of public buildings: libraries, courthouses and schools as well as monuments and parks. Images of 40 New Deal paintings and sculptures by New Mexico artists will be on display in the Hubbard's Greentree Room.
