More about the 11th Annual New Bethel Baptist Scholarship Gospel Concert:

The 11th Annual New Bethel Baptist Scholarship Gospel Concert features the Howard Gospel Choir (HGC), a religious life ministry under the auspices of the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel, which consists of a body of Howard University students, alumni and community members dedicated to using the gift of music ministry to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. As the first college choir of its kind in the world, the Howard Gospel Choir is a trailblazer for all gospel music ministries across collegiate campuses in the nation. With a legacy of almost four decades committed to excellence in music ministry, this musical aggregation has bred and shared with many of the most prolific people of this century. Some of their most noted alumni include Grammy Award© winners Richard Smallwood and Coré Cotton (member of the Sounds of Blackness), as well as Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark of the legendary Clark Sisters, R&B star Ángela Winbush.

The University of Maryland Gospel Choir, under the directorship of Mr. Dwayne Gregory, has shared the stage with recording artist such as Hezekiah Walker, Maurette Brown Clark, Viola Bradford, Isaiah Thomas, and comedian Bill Cosby as well as recorded a CD, “Worthy To Be Praised”. Mr. Gregory is a composer, songwriter, and arranger. Under his leadership, the choir has had an eclectic genre that reached many audiences.

Oxon Hill High School Gospel Choir, directed by Dr. Emory Andrews has traveled extensively around the world and has won many awards in the field of choral music. In 2010 the choir rose to national acclaim after winning the Children’s Project of the Year at the 25th Annual Stellar Awards for their 2009 album entitled, “Amazing”. They are the first high school choir to win a major gospel music industry award.

Adrianne Archie will be the Special Guest Hostess/Performer for the night. This is an event that you won’t want to miss!
