A course dedicated to manual testers working in an agile environment
Description
Manual testers working in an agile environment are often encouraged to follow the same working practices as those working in a waterfall environment. This approach frequently leads to a manual testing effort that takes too long to prepare, execute and maintain. The result is often anything but agile.
At the other end of the spectrum, manual testers working in an agile environment are encouraged to simply browse the software looking for bugs that the team’s automated tests did not detect. Whilst this approach is more in keeping with the brisk nature of agile projects, it often fails to find important bugs.
This 1-day, hands-on course introduces a range of alternative techniques for manual testers working in an agile environment that allow them to keep pace, whilst maintaining independence, diligence and predictability. Each technique has been hand-picked from the world of agile, context-driven or traditional testing, with one goal in mind; to create a manual testing effort that is as agile as the team it supports.
Learning objectives
During this course, attendees will learn:
What makes a team agile and the different interpretations of the Agile Manifesto
How to document tests in a way that takes minutes rather than days
How to use traditional test case design techniques in an agile manner
How to test a release when requirements and specifications are scarce
How to identify and reduce waste in the manual testing process
How to test a release when there is little or no automated test coverage
What other members of the team can do to help manual testers
Target audience
This course is suitable for manual testers with no test automation experience or those with automation experience looking to sharpen their manual testing skills. Some previous exposure to software testing is beneficial, but no prior knowledge of agile software development is required. Non-testing roles welcome.
