A number of prominent commentators have recently argued that neuroscience shows, or suggests, that 'freewill', or human 'freedom', is an illusion. Many important questions arise: what does this mean, literally? What sort of understanding of 'freewill' or 'freedom' do they have, and more importantly, what sorts of presuppositions guide their thinking? Which conclusions follow, and do not follow, from the kinds of studies that they have in mind? Are we free? Is freewill an illusion? Join us and find out in this fully illustrated day.
