Neil Giuntoli's Hizzoner is a personal look at Richard J. Daley - authoritarian politician, family man and dynasty builder, whose life was inextricably bound to Chicago, the city he loved. Stefan Brun directs. Hizzoner calls forth from history of the 60's and 70's while featuring a theatrically intimate look at the man atop Chicago's political machine. The show concentrates on the man himself and how he viewed Chicago as his city; how he saw his associates and the population who depended on his leadership. Hizzoner offers up personalities who worked with Daley and some - like Jesse Jackson - with whom he had a crucial crossing of paths. There is also a glimpse into how "Da Mare" may have seen himself.
