Need / Want: Subtraction November 17, 2011

Gallery Up is presenting a new series of work entitled Need, Want: Subtraction by local artist Lila Shull from November 7 – November 25, 2011. Shull primarily focuses her work around painting and printmaking. Her series combines figurative and animalistic imagery that confronts questions of identity and innate struggles. The artist’s reception, on November 17 from 6 – 8pm, is free and open to the public and will include a cash bar.

Shull originally hails from North Augusta, SC and is currently studying as a senior BFA candidate at Winthrop University anticipating to graduate in December 2011. In 2010, she studied fine arts abroad at Saimaa University in Imatra, Finland. Shull has shown her work in multiple exhibits at galleries in the Carolinas including the Arts Council of York County, the Winthrop University Galleries, and Gallery Up. We are lucky enough to host her debut solo show!
