The National Conflict Resolution Center (NCRC) presents the 2010 Summer Institute in San Diego: “The Art & Practice of Mediation”, to be held in August 2010.
Through this Summer Institute, we are going to be offering 2 weeks of Mediation Training: our 4-day Introductory Mediation Skills Course, and a 4-day Advanced Mediation Skills Course.
The first week focuses on NCRC's classic facilitative mediation model through a series of lectures, interactive exercises and participatory simulations, while the second week provides an opportunity for deeper exploration of current issues in the field.
The agenda also includes topics such as: new techniques for dealing with impasse, negotiating over money, working with multiple parties, and adapting the model for specific situations. It also includes opportunities for individually supervised practice and coaching.
Mediation training provides essential skills to all professionals involved in, or responsible for resolving conflict. This training gives professionals the opportunity to develop skills and techniques especially useful for both formal and informal resolution disputes.
We also offer an approach that is different, and in some ways more satisfying to participants in that it is not caucus driven and settlement conference oriented, but really offers the parties the opportunity to exercise self-determination.
