Born of a football game on October 19, 1931, the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club (NBGC) will celebrate their 80th anniversary on Saturday, October 22.
While founded on sports programs, the NBGC stands “For Better Men and Women” and has offered Club members the opportunity to expand their horizons, build character and enhance the community for eight decades on Chicago’s north side.
Everybody plays at NBGC. Whatever the skill or ability, the boys and girls play every game in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. Supervised by adults and trained teens, this program is significantly run by student members who participate in an incredible leadership development program at the Club. The program stresses teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, leadership and conflict resolution.
The NBGC hosts a festive awards dinner every five years to honor the association’s contributions and accomplishments. As part of their 80th celebration, the NBGC will hold its first “Hall of Fame” induction during the Anniversary Dinner to recognize inductees who epitomize the distinctive qualities that personify the NBGC maxim “For Better Men and Women” and have demonstrated exceptional leadership, sportsmanship and volunteer service.
Residents and members of the business community are invited to Chevy Chase Country Club (1000 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling IL, 60090) and join with alumni, friends and family as they gather to reminisce and pay tribute to the remarkable history of the Club and to the many thousands of people whose lives have been affected by this extraordinary organization.
Tickets are $80 per person and $800.00 per table of 10. Call 773-463-4161 to reserve your space.
