Renewable energy sources and emerging clean technologies will be the theme for this month’s Nano Bio Clean Tech Forum on Tuesday, April 22, sponsored by the Clean Tech Institute in conjunction with the International Association of Nanotechnology.
Roger Bedard, Ocean Energy Leader with the Electric Power Research Institute in Palo Alto (EPRI), will discuss the practical applications of ocean wave energy and tidal energy. EPRI has established two North American collaborative programs to investigate the feasibility of ocean wave and in-stream tidal energy conversion in North America, which brings together the resources and knowledge of 10 state agencies, two federal agencies, 17 electric power utilities, three universities and more than 30 technology developers.
Guest speaker Joseph Heinzmann with Fuel Cell Energy will also discuss the environmental and competitive advantages of utilizing fuel cell energy for commercial purposes. Fuel Cell Energy develops and markets Ultra-Clean stationary fuel cell power plants that generate electricity with up to twice the efficiency of conventional fossil fuel plants – and with virtually no air pollution.
The forum will be held from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the IANANO headquarters, 1290 Parkmoor Ave., San Jose. Networking will take place from 5:30 p.m.-6 p.m., prior to the start of the program. Cost is $20/members; $30 non-members. A light dinner will be served. To register online now, go to http://www.ianano.org/registration-NBC.htm. For more information, call (408) 280-6222.
