Join Houston Arboretum & Nature Center Naturalist teachers for fun-filled week long camps that explore the natural world through active hands-on indoor and outdoor adventures at this 155 acre nature sanctuary. Children are taught in classes by age (5 & 6 yrs., 7 & 8 yrs., and 9-12 yrs.)
On June 6-10 & July 11-15, learn about the ecology of birds, nests and eggs. Learn about the microscopic organisms that outnumber all other living things in “Microworld Explorer,” June 13-17 & July 18-22. On June 20-24 & July 25-29, learn about lizards, snakes and other creatures in “Reptiles and Amphibians.” Learn about natural earth and weather phenomena like hurricanes and earthquakes in “Angry Earth,” June 21-July 1 & Aug.1-5. On July 5-8 and Aug.8-12, explore the world of arachnids in “Spiders.”
We have a morning only option for the classes (9 a.m. to noon) and a full day option (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) Extend the day with weeklong afternoon classes from 3 to 5 p.m. for less than the cost of a morning only class. Yoga instructor Nancy Sorenson will teach the basics in her weeklong class, “Yoga for Kids.” City Artworks will present afternoon Art Camps for children in alternating weeks with “Yoga for Kids”; see link for full schedule.
