Join us for one or more programs in this new series. Each session, we will share a children's nature story before we explore the woods, fields, and wetlands of the sanctuary. - - Insects and Spiders: September 25 - We'll read Chirping Crickets by Melvin Berger. A field is a wonderful place to find lots of different bugs. We will provide sweep nets and bug boxes so that you can get a closer look at what may be hiding in the tall grass. - - Wonderful Wetlands: October 16 - We'll read Squish, A Wetland Walk by Nancy Luenn. Then, using buckets and strainers, we will explore a pond and a wetland habitat and search for critters that swim, soar, and crawl. - - Life in a Log: November 6 - We'll read A Log's Life by Wendy Pfeiffer, and discover that logs are their own little habitats. Using hand lenses and bug boxes, we will examine salamanders, fungi, and other log dwellers. - - Busy Beavers: December 4 - We'll read Beaver at Long Pond by Lindsay Barrett George, and then take a walk to Rockery Pond to see a beaver lodge, dam, beaver chews, and scent mounds. As a group, we will build our own lodge. Registration is required. Call 978-887-9264 for details. See http://www.massaudubon.org/catalog/listing.php?program_code=1220-IP10FA1 for more information.
