Saturdays: January 15, February 19, March 26, and April 16 / 10:00-11:30 am - - Join us for one or more programs in this series. Each session, we will share a children's nature story before we explore the woods, fields, and wetlands of the sanctuary. - - The Mitten: January 15 - We'll read The Mitten by Jan Brett and then take a hike to look for animal homes. Using a very large mitten, we will recreate the story. As a group, we'll build a people shelter and see how warm we can make it. - - Maple Sugaring: February 19 - We'll read Sugarbush Spring by Marsha Wilson Chall. Then we will meet the trees that produce the sugary sap that we collect and boil down to make real maple syrup. We'll tap a pretend tree and have a taste of maple syrup. - - Animal Homes: March 26 - We'll read The Very Best Bed by Rebekah Raye, and then we will take a walk, investigate animal homes, and discuss who made them and how. - - Dandelion Investigations: April 16 - We'll read The Dandelion Seed by Joseph Anthony. Did you know that the yellow heads of dandelions that brighten a green lawn can survive the toughest conditions? We'll go on a dandelion hunt, dissect a dandelion flower, and create a dandelion collage in the meadow. Registration is required. Call 978-887-9264 for details.
