Native Plant Society annual seed and plant swap! Come to meet others interested in nature and to learn more about Texas native plants.

Native plants survived in Texas for thousands of years, without additional water or care. Using native plants in your landscape conserves water and provides essential habitat for wildlife species such as birds, essential pollinators and butterflies. Approximately 5000 species of native plants are native to Texas. A great number of exotic nonnative species prove to be invasive over time. Slight biological advantages, such as the lack of insects from their native countries, gives nonnative plants a distinct long term advantage over wildlife friendly native plants. Invasive species create monocultures that replace biodiverse natural areas and they cost the world econony billions of dollars per year. Less than 1% of native coastal prairie survives. Please conserve remnant native plant habitats and plant native plants instead of common exotic plants.
