Free heart health screenings will again be provided at this year’s 7th annual National Woman's Heart Day® Health Fair. In addition to getting screened -- which will only take about 15 minutes – information will be provided on how to reduce the risk factors for heart disease and how to adopt heart-healthy lifestyles. Attendees can take advantage of free cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure screenings, obtain on-the-spot results, receive and enjoy free relaxing massages, makeovers, and giveaways. Also- free fitness demonstrations by Bally’s Total Fitness and heart healthy cooking demonstrations by Les Dames D’Escoffier.
Why:
One in three women in the United States still die of heart disease. Yet women often ignore the symptoms of heart disease, as symptoms in women may be different than in men. More alarmingly, among women who died of heart disease in 1999,
63% experienced no prior symptoms at all.
Sponsoring Organization:
The annual National Woman's Heart Day® Health Fair is presented by the Sister to Sister: Everyone Has a Heart Foundation -- the only organization focused on providing free heart health screenings nationally. Through their efforts, thousands of women learn about prevention and early detection of heart disease, as well as heart-healthy nutrition and lifestyles for themselves and their families.
