Are you looking for a great way to give back to the community? Then join the thousands of volunteers across the nation as they help beautify America's lands. What better place to help with this nationally recognized effort, than your own desert oasis where you can enjoy the park's scenic views of the lake. The annual park cleanup is held in conjunction with the annual National Public Lands Day Cleanup, Project A.W.A.R.E. and the Ocean Conservancy International Coastal Cleanup. Data collected from the cleanup is included in the international report generated by Ocean Conservancy each year. Land volunteers will assist with removing invasive plant species, debris and litter from shoreline, camping and picnic areas. Remember to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, sturdy footwear, and heavy gloves for the biting cacti. The park will supply lightweight gloves, trash pickers, trash bags and drinking water. This is a great way for organizations, supervised youth groups, families and individuals to be productive community citizens. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. All volunteers will meet at the group campground inside the main entrance of the park to pick up their area assignment. Volunteers must call by Friday, September 11, to receive free vehicle entry into the park for the day. For more information, contact Don at (602) 372-7460, ext. 201.
