The Association of Fundraising Professionals - Washington Chapter has chosen seven outstanding philanthropists to honor at its 20th anniversary National Philanthropy Day luncheon on Nov. 20, 2008.
The luncheon, "Celebrating 20 Years of Giving," will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel, 1400 Sixth Ave., in downtown Seattle. Last year's event drew 1,200 attendees and was the largest National Philanthropy Day celebration in the nation.
National Philanthropy Day honors and supports the efforts and passions of philanthropic leaders and the organizations they serve. Community leaders, non-profit organizations, volunteers, and donors from across Washington State will gather to honor this year's outstanding honorees who have invested their passion, time, talents, and financial support to better their community. Seven individuals and organizations will be recognized for their philanthropic work.
The 2008 honorees are:
PACCAR Inc - Outstanding Corporation (Bellevue)
Village Books - Outstanding Small Business (Bellingham)
Kirlin Charitable Foundation - Outstanding Foundation (Bellevue)
The Moyer Foundation - Outstanding Organization (Seattle)
Shad Reinstein & Jody Laine - Outstanding Philanthropists (Seattle)
The Bridge Family - Outstanding Family (Seattle)
Anders Crabo & Colin Flynn - Outstanding Youth (Bellingham)
"We are very fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of philanthropists," said Ray Li, president of AFP Washington and development director of Neighborhood House in Seattle. "Day by day they strive to create a stronger, richer and healthier community for us all."
