National Library Week Concert: Jake Reichbart Trio April 16, 2009

The Jake Reichbart Trio, with Nick Calandro on bass and George Bennett on drums, have been performing and recording for more than ten years. They have been a fixture on the local and regional jazz scene, performing at clubs, festivals, concerts and even private affairs. While their musical style and sound can be fairly easily categorized as straight jazz, their repertoire is hardly ordinary. Instead of relying on the classics by the likes of Gershwin, Porter and Ellington, they chose instead to perform unique interpretations of pop and rock tunes from the 60’s to current day. The concept isn't new, of course. However, most of the tunes the trio performs may have never before been played as jazz interpretations. As such, the trio performs tunes by the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Doobie Brothers, Pink Floyd, Joe Jackson, Pet Shop Boys, ELO, Genesis, Duran Duran and many others.
