When the writers of the 'X-Files' needed material, they turned to cultural anthropologist Wade Davis' research for inspiration. He spent more than three years living and working with the indigenous peoples of Latin America and eventually made his way to Haiti to study ancient voodoo preparations as they relate to the creation of zombies; work that became the catalyst for his best-selling book 'The Serpent and the Rainbow.'
