In support of the Youth for the Environment Day in April, National Geographic Channel (NGC) has partnered the National Environment Agency (NEA) to launch their first ever NGC-NEA Eco-Run to promote recycling efforts and awareness of environmental sustainability through youths. The run will be held at the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park and will offer two race categories - a 2.5 km ‘Fun Run’, and a 5 km Youth Run.
This year’s YED will see a total of three key new activities lined-up for youths. Apart from the Eco-Run, there will be an art competition for primary school students as well as a forum for youths on how they can turn challenges into opportunities for a sustainable Singapore.
The National Geographic Channel – National Environment Agency (NGC-NEA) Eco-Run will take place on 20 April 2013 at Bishan – Ang Mo Kio Park (River Plains) from 8.00 am to 12.00 pm. The NGC-NEA Eco-Run is open to youths aged 13 to 25 to run either 2.5km or 5km for the environment. Participants are encouraged to collect recyclable items and invite their families and friends to pledge online to reduce their carbon footprint. Awards will be given out to individuals and schools for the most recyclables and pledges collected. An Eco Concert and Carnival will also be held in conjunction with the run on 20 April 2013.
