Join the International Association of Nanotechnology and the Clean Tech Institute on Thursday, October 2, for a discussion of nanomechanical testing applications and techniques designed to reach new breakthroughs in nanomaterial characterization.
Guest speaker Joe McGuire, Western Regional Sales Manager for Hysitron, will discuss how nanostructured materials are tested for hardness, fracture toughness, elastic modulus, stress/strain, friction wear and scratch resistance of bulk and ultra-thin film. He will further address how instrumentation is continually being improved to meet the ever-changing demands of a diverse set of applications ranging from ceramics, metals, semiconductors and MEMs devices to polymers and biomaterials.
Mr. McGuire previously served as Midwest Region Sales Manager for Eaton Corporation/Axcelis Technologies for 15 years, specializing in ion implantation, RTP and coat-bake. He has also worked in sales for Veeco Instruments in MOCVD and MBE and was Western Regional Sales Manager for nanomechanical test equipment for Hysitron.
IANANO will also present a brief overview of its clean tech/nanotech training programs and resources. Cost is $10/non-members; free to members. The Nano Lunch will take place from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and will be held at IANANO headquarters, 1290 Parkmoor Ave., San Jose, CA 95126. A light lunch will be served and networking will take place before and after the presentations.
