Naho Bessho, a pianist of classical music, from Nagoya, Japan, and now living in Dover NH, starts her piano recital tour in New England areas this May. The first piano recital in this season will be held on May 29th, Saturday, at 2pm, at York-Ogunquit United Methodist Church, located 1026 US Route 1, York, ME, 03909. Admission is $10 at the door. The program of this concert includes pieces by Carl Maria von Weber, Gabriel Faure, Felix Mendelssohn, Nikolai Medtner, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Naho Bessho won several prizes in piano competition in Japan. At the age of 19 she won the highest award at the Japan Classical Music Competition, and graduated from Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music with a master's degree in 1999. She played a piano concerto in Nagoya with Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra in 1999, and in 2000 she won the 2nd prize at Yangtze-River-Cup International Competition in Osaka by playing Prokofiev piano sonata no. 7. She moved in the US in 2002 and graduated from Boston University in 2006 with a performance diploma. Since then she has been giving many piano solo recitals and ensemble concerts in New England areas.
