This musical, by Lowe and Lerner, is adapted from George Bernard Shaw's play 'Pygmalion.' Henry Higgins, linguist extraordinaire, bets his friend Colonel Pickering that he can transform a Covent Garden shop girl into a lady who can pass for royalty. The girl in question, Eliza Doolittle, makes a remarkable transformation from guttersnipe to lady but loses none of her spunk along the way.
