Musical Magic with the Longwood Symphony Orchestra Comes to the Hatch Shell on August 22 August 22, 2007

The First-Ever Landmarks Festival At The Shell Comes To The Esplanade This Summer

Who: Boston Landmarks Orchestra, in partnership with Boston’s Classical Radio Station 99.5 WCRB and in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, presents the Longwood Symphony Orchestra, Jonathan McPhee, Conductor.

What: Musical Magic, the seventh of nine concerts, will feature Longwood Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jonathan McPhee, featuring the winner of the Chinese Performing Arts Foundation’s piano competition, in a performance of Mendelssohn’s Piano No. 1, plus John William’s Suite from Harry Potter and Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty.

When: Wednesday, August 22 at 7 p.m.
Where: The Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade

Why: Conductor Charles Ansbacher founded the Boston Landmarks Orchestra in 2001 to perform free concerts celebrating historical, geographical and architectural settings. He invited the Longwood Symphony Orchestra to perform as part of the series in order to recognize this significant community orchestra.

Admission: Free and open to the public.
