The program includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C, op.21 and Aaron Copland's "Appalachian Spring." This concert also features The Young Voices of Colorado, joining with the Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra, in performing Canadian composer Srul Irving Glick's lovely "Psalm Trilogy."
The Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra well known for its performances of baroque and classical masterworks and for its exploration of lesser-known historic and contemporary repertoire. The musicians of the Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra bring a variety of training and experience to the ensemble and a wide array of performing experience.
Young Voices of Colorado is a children's choir of approximately 200 singers, ages 7-16, from all over the Denver metropolitan area, performing fine treble choir music. Five choirs, including Colorado's only boy choir, showcase their talent at many local, national and international events.
In her last concert as Conductor of the Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra, Catherine Sailer is also Director of Choral Studies at the University of Denver, where she conducts the Lamont Chorale and Lamont Women's Chorus. In 2005, she was named the winner of Chorus America's prestigious Robert Shaw Conducting Fellowship. She has conducted professional choruses such as the Dale Warland Singers, Kansas City Chorale, Chicago Symphony Chorus and the Carnegie Hall Choral Workshop Chorus. Other recent conducting credits include the Orchestra of St. Luke's, Beijing Symphony Orchestra and the National Opera of China. Ms. Sailer was invited to take part in the National Conducting Institute at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where she conducted the National Symphony Orchestra and studied with Leonard Slatkin. Ms. Sailer joined Musica Sacra as conductor in the 2006-07 season and leaves MSCO to devote more time to her two children.
