2008 is the centenary of the birth of Olivier Messiaen, one of music’s greatest nature mystics, and we celebrate this in a program of music and words inspired by birds, the creatures which so fascinated him. The program will include music by Bach, Messiaen, van Eyck, Boismortier, Poser; improvisation by the performers; two or three new works by Canadian musician/composers Ben Grossman, Linda C. Smith and Peter Hannan; and poetry by Levertov, Jacobsen, Basho and others.
