Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest will provide two free adult admission tickets to readers of SMITHSONIAN Magazine who present the national Museum Day card. The Museum Day Admission Card is available in the September issue of SMITHSONIAN magazine. New this year, a downloadable version is available on the Museum Day website at www.smithsonian.com/museumdaycard.
To celebrate Museum Day, the Poplar Forest Hands-on History Center will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Additionally, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Poplar Forest will host Martha Lucas Barr, a renowned living history interpreter, who will demonstrate the art of open-hearth cooking.
These activities require a Museum Day Card, or a Grounds Ticket ($3 per person), or a House Tour Admission Ticket (Adults $9; seniors $7.50; youths 6-16 $1; under 6 free).
