Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation and the Riverdale Track Team will be offering the MTF (Murfreesboro Track and Field) program for the fourth successful year. This Track and Field program, designed to teach basic fundamentals of the sport while allowing athletes to compete against their peers, will be offered on the recreational level for children ages 9 to 14.
Registration will be held throughout the month of March at Sports*Com, Patterson Park Community Center Athletic Office and the main recreation office at Barfield Crescent Park. Registration fee is $25.00 and participants will receive an official MTF (Murfreesboro Track and Field) shirt and be allowed to participate in all training sessions.
MTF offers five educational training sessions held at Riverdale High School on Monday afternoons throughout April and May. The season will be completed with the Local Hersheys Track and Field competition held on Saturday, May 17, 2008. At the Hersheys meet, participants will have the opportunity to advance to district and state levels. In 2007, Joy Frierson of Murfreesboro won a Silver Medal at the National Hersheys Track and Field Competition.
