The Mill Valley Chamber Music Society continues its 34th season presenting the Moscow String Quartet featuring Eugenia Alikhanova, 1st violin; Galina Kokhanovskaia, 2nd violin; Tatiana Kokhanovskaia, viola; and Olga Ogranovitch, cello.
The Moscow String Quartet steps in for the originally scheduled Auryn Quartet, who canceled due to the illness of one of its members.
The Moscow String Quartet has emerged as one of the major Russian chamber ensembles. Known as passionate promoters of twentieth century Western music in Russia and contemporary Soviet music in the West, the quartet was inspired by the great Russian masters such as David Oistrakh, Mstislav Rostropovich, Sviatoslav Richter, Emil Gilels and the original Borodin Quartet.
The Moscow String Quartet Feb. 24 concert program will feature Beethoven: String Quartet in f minor, op. 95 "Serioso"; Borodin: String Quartet No. 2 in D major; and Shostakovich: String Quartet No. 2, op. 68 in A major
