Mosaic Stepping Stone Workshop June 19, 2010

Two Day Workshop-June 19 and 20. $25 Materials Fee. Registration required. Have fun with color, shape, and design while you learn the basics of mosaics. In this 1-1/2 day class, you will complete a 12-inch square stepping stone for your garden. The class is designed for beginners, but students who have made mosaics before are also welcome. The instructors will supply all the materials you need, but if you'd like to incorporate something special into your piece, feel free to bring in broken ceramic pottery or tile, buttons, old jewelry or small keepsakes. We will supply basic patterns or you use your own design. On Saturday, after you sketch out your design and choose from available materials, you'll learn how to cut your pieces (we will also supply some pre-cut materials) and how to mix and use thin set mortar to set the pieces in the stepping-stone. On Sunday, you'll learn how to grout your stepping-stone. This workshop is messy--be sure to wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
