Mosaic Prayer Rug with Katherine England May 22, 2011

No need for repentance in this class. We will be using precise and geometric cuts and patterns to map out and make our own pocket sized prayer rug. Our color palette will be rich purples, golds, and reds. The end result is a balanced array of lines and patterns. In addition to mosaic techniques we also will be learning to bead between our glass tiles giving a more tactile feel to our tapestry. Though I will bring all materials you need, I suggest bringing some special token or piece from home as a center to this altar. Using the direct application method (no need to grout) your piece will be finished by days end. Final project is 4”x6”.

Materials: I will provide all materials and tools needed for this project. You may want to bring a special adornment such a an antique button, earring, etc. for your centerpiece of worship. Tweezers are a fun tool in this class, bring your favorites.
