This morning series will enrich participants on the world of nature and art using the backdrop of sculptor Harvey Fite's OPUS 40 and the grounds to engage in exploration and activities to develop an appreciation for outdoor sculpture and inspire ideas of creative expression. Our day will run from 9-12, with time for a late morning snack, games and activities. Pre-registration is necessary
Monday - a guided walking tour of Opus 40 and its natural surroundings, with a talk on Harvey Fite and how he came to build Opus 40. Bring your camera!
Tuesday – How Opus 40 came about. Learn about the exciting prehistoric background of the area that became Opus 40 from a geologist. Visit the Quarryman’s Museum and learn about the tools of the trade and the quarrymen who used them.
Wednesday – Wear your painting clothes for a colorful day of painting and art instruction.
Thursday – Learn how Harvey Fite built a wall, and make your own freeform sculpture with scattered bluestone.
Friday – Set up and display your photos and artwork of the week for your family. Reception for family to view artwork of the week and to share your experiences of the week exploring OPUS 40.
