$20/person (2-3 per canoe)
9:30am-11am guided canoe tour (free)
Because we were bumped last time I went ahead and reserved 3 canoes. Bring bug spray and water. No food or alcohol allowed in the canoes.
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, to discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practice resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean, why then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and to be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion.
Walden or Life in the Woods

The weather is beautiful these days and the Barataria Preserve is very accessible- spring has sprung and this is usually the time that things are in bloom in the Preserve. I know we have Gary's Bday dinner the night before, but if we can swing it, we'll be back by noon and can take a Saturday afternoon nap! I need to know about numbers pretty soon, so please RSVP on Upcoming by the end of Tuesday. I will call and make our reservation Wednesday morning. If you are bringing non-upcoming members, just add a guest on to your RSVP. This will help me know how many canoes...
sorry kids, headed to Los Angeles this weekend, maybe next time.
If I were going to be here this weekend, I would totally do this! Why does so much fun stuff have to happen when I'm gone?
Unfortunately, we'll be spending Saturday moving. Have fun!
^^^^ She will be whining... I will be moving.
Sounds like a blast. Would love to, but can't. Maybe next trip!
yah, I can't this time but do it again --- Maybe memorial day weekend!?!?!
Yes, we'll scope it all out and plan one again. I think you can also do these tours at night. Pam and Steve went one time and Sunpie was their tour guide!
I don't know how to "add a guest" but Carmen is going to be my paddlemate. Eddy is being a whimp and says he doesn't want to get up that early so we are going to man the canoe ourselves!
Sorry, event is closed. We are already on a waiting list, but the park ranger is confident that he'll be able to fit two canoes in...
So that means that Susan, Carmen, Kevin, Susan B and Kara are on the list for this Saturday. Will let you know the outcome on Friday morning. Thanks!
O.K., let's hit the reset button. This has been rescheduled, who's in, who's out?
Final participants include Kara, Susan, Kevin and Barb. Let's meet at Kevin's for 8am (Kara, that means you!). Canoe place opens at 8:30. Thanks!

Do we actually have to read Thoreau while canoeing, or can we just drink mimosas and bloody mary's?
