Mormon Battalion Day at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park will celebrate the anniversary of the arrival of the Mormon Battalion with a unique opportunity to learn about their contributions to early San Diego History. The historic children's crafts, Dutch oven Bake-off, and cannon firing along with other activities will commemorate the January, 1847 arrival of Mormon Battalion into Old Town. Learn how the residents of Old Town reacted to this tumultuous period as volunteers in historic apparel reflect upon the Californio culture by sharing their stories and demonstrating period appropriate crafts.
