Join us on Thursday, January 17, 2008, 7:30pm at the Habeas Lounge, 18th Street Arts Center Studio #2 as we will be listening to New Zealand based digital/mixed media artist. Morgan Barnard, currently residing in New Zealand, teaches at the Victoria University
School of Design in the Digital Media Design program.
Barnard, will be discussing the various cross-disciplinary approaches to working
with digital media in a design context. Other subjects discussed will be in digital cinema, experience design, Gaming, physical computing, and
computational media will also be discussed.
His final topic will be on the art collective he is also
apart of, Sentimental Plastics. Sentimental Plastics is a council project that was part of Wellington Urban Design week. The project focused on the plastic bag; how people
use them, what people think about them, how they make them feel, and
offered solutions on ways to upcycle bags to be re-used rather than
thrown in the dump. Sentimental Plastics aim was to raise people’s awareness about this common
object in the urban environment and hopefully make them think about
how they use plastic bags.
