Mordine & Company Dance Theater - Moving Dance FORWARD for 40 years…

Join the company as it celebrates its 40th with a Gala concert on Saturday, February 28. As the longest running contemporary dance company in the Midwest, Mordine & Company symbolically performs a program that acknowledges its rich history while also looking to the future. The evening features the world premiere of "Illuminations," choreographed by Shirley Mordine for 8 dancers, that explores the tension between moving forward and backward through time. Replete with themes of memory vs. hope and how one action in a single moment can affect all that follows, the new work is set to an original interactive sound score by Shawn Decker. The gala program will also feature "Silver Lining" a solo from 1981 performed by Ms. Mordine.

Following the performance, Gala attendees will be invited to celebrate with the company in the Dance Center’s third floor studio, with food, drink and live music, all in a festive ruby red anniversary atmosphere.
