The City of Lake Charles will host 'Monumental Detail: The Drawings of Gerry Wubben' at the 1911 City Hall Arts and Cultural Center. A 25 year survey, Wubben's imagery spans the monumental to the intimate in his 8-foot black and white drawings. His work focuses on a number of themes from the figure, the portrait, family and friends to science, landscapes and nature - all created with an attention to detail and psychological insight executed in charcoal, pencil or ink. Wubben is a nationally recognized and acclaimed artist. He is a professor of printmaking and drawing at McNeese State University where he received the 1999-2000 Distinguished Faculty Award by the McNeese Alumni Association. His work has been published in numerous catalogs including 2 recent issues of American Artist Drawing magazine, and has shown in hundreds of exhibitions including the Art Center of Western Colorado, The Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans, and Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, just to name a few.
